The Faroe Islands are a mystical place located between Europe and Iceland. Home to roughly 50,000 people this autonomous nation will not disappoint.

The country consist of 18 major islands. The landscapes of these islands are unmatched anywhere else in the world. Mountains jutting out of the seas, lakes overflowing into the ocean, and stunning waterfalls. The Faroe Islands are perfect for those who want to be adventurous.

Tourism on the islands is growing quickly but it still has its charm. The capital city of Tórshavn is where Kenzie and I stayed. We stay in a little Faroese house with a grass roof and bright yellow door. It was absolutely perfect. The Airbnb sat a block away from Mikkeller’s Tórshavn which was a lovely place to grab a pint.

Our perfect Airbnb

After a few days of wondering around Tórshavn. We took a ferry to Nólsoy a small island just across the channel. The ferry was a massive ship which held mostly those who lived on Nólsoy. The population of the island is about 200 people. Could you imagine living on an island with 200 people? There are more people in most apartment buildings in any city in America. But Nólsoy had it’s charm and was a beautiful town. While walking around in the winter time Kenzie and I found out quickly that everything was closed. Also the next ferry was 4 hours later. So we just strolled through the town several time and hike up the mountains. There were sheep walking around the island as well as a llama.

Nólsoy

The Faroese people were incredibly friendly. I truly enjoy my drunken conversations with the locals. They love their country and it is easy to see why.

If you have the opportunity to go to the Faroe Islands I high recommend you jump on that.
